Sering peserta bertanya apakah continuous improvement termasuk inovasi? Saya menjawab: ia termasuk inovasi sejauh ia menciptakan nilai tambah (surplus produsen dan surplus konsumen) bagi para pemangku kepentingan dilaksanakannya perbaikan berkelanjutan tersebut. Secara umum saya dapat mengatakan bahwa perbaikan berkelanjutan membawa manfaat. Pertanyaannya, seberapa besar manfaat tersebut? Semakin besar, semakin inovatif tentunya.
